Vocational Training
Our vocational training program began in the spring of 2008 with the motive of preparing our older children for the day when they turn 18 and have to leave the orphanage. The first part of our program is focused on teaching the children how to use public transportation, the location of important places and how to respond to any given situation in the city. Some of our children also attend a speech and drama class, where they gain self-confidence and learn to express themselves appropriately.
The second part of the program focuses on training the child in a profession where they have gifts and abilities. We partner with several schools and institutes to secure a safe, learning environment for our children where they can study baking, cosmetology, clerical skills or mechanics. After their training is finished, the children will complete internships with well respected companies. Our prayer is that our children will be well trained, physically and spiritually, for the challenges that lay ahead.
“After one dental mission trip to Trujillo, we fell in love with the staff and the children at the albergue so much that we adopted one ourselves.” — Maria, USA
